Density of Tokyo

POPULATION DENSITY OF TOKYO

With total area of 2194 square kilometers Tokyo is the largest city in the world located in the Southern Kanto region positioned in approximately the center of the Japanese archipelago. Tokyo is the capital of Japan with a population of approximately 37.2 million people.

When we look at history we can know that Tokyo City began as a settlement near the Sumida river in 1880s to 1900s, Tokyo experienced most growth of all time in terms of population increase.

An expansion of the city's geography and over time the city merged with the surrounding areas to form the Tokyo metropolitan area. The second world war was another reason that influenced the city's growth and population shifts, And war-related damage affected the development of Tokyo.

Tokyo is the world's most populous metropolis and also one of Japan's 47 prefectures consisting of 23 Central City Wards and multiple cities.

Tokyo is known for iconic landmarks like the Tokyo Skytree and Shibuya Crossing and it's also known for its shrines and temples its Otaku culture and its world-class transport system.

But Tokyo wasn't always modern high-tech Cosmopolitan that we know it as today at least until 160 years ago. Tokyo has a population of 37.2 million people and according to statistics the population of Tokyo can reach up to 10 billion people by 2050.

When a metropolitan area have populations over 10 million it's called a mega City and currently there are 37 mega cities in the world including Tokyo, Lagos, London and Osaka.

We all know that Japan has the 11th rank in the most populated countries in the world with top populated cities but when we look at the data we can see that Japan's population is declining overall but still Tokyo is an exception and it still keeps growing every year and becoming the largest number of people of all cities. When we look at the population density in Japan by prefecture of course Tokyo is on top on that.

According to estimated data Japan has a density of 340 square kilometers that means 340 people in the country live on one square kilometer on average, But when we look at the data of Tokyo then the number is 6 thousand two hundred square kilometers which is 18 times higher than the average for all of Japan.

According to population statistics of Tokyo we can know that the population of this city has never declined since 1996 and that's one of the reasons why this city has a high population than any other City. There are many reasons that increase the population including employment opportunities, universities and many entertainment facilities.

The city has a massive economy and many large company headquarters that means more people come to Tokyo for finding employment and that plays a key to role for increasing population over time.

Some estimates show that the population of the city will continue to grow by 2060. But when we look at the overall population growth in Japan we find that it can decrease by 12.12 million people by 2035.

Tokyo is the most populated city but still their unemployment and also crime rates are very low and traffic is well managed.

But like other countries there are also many problems like the prices of real estate are very high and it has less Green Space per capita, But on the other side the city transit system is the Envy of the world.

Dozens of public Rail lines and private Metro run impeccable service across nearly the entirety of the Metropolitan region.

Because of overpopulation the Chinese government already restricted the growth of Shanghai and Beijing but Tokyo population is evened out in part because it has more or less run out of new land to cover.

Technically Tokyo is not a city it's a metropolis made up of 26 different cities with few towns and 23 Central Wards.

According to data the city has a history of Reinventing itself and within the last couple of years the city opened many new buildings. By the end of this year 2023 the district will be powered by 100 renewable energy.

A major success of Tokyo is that it has become one of the top City economies in the world, The urban Redevelopment policy is a master plan that has comprehensively systemized measures for urban Redevelopment on a long-term basis thereby aiming to ensure Fair guidance and planned promotion of Redevelopment.

One of the interesting facts is that Tokyo was destroyed twice in the 20th century first by the earthquake of 1923 and then by the fires of World War II.

Tokyo was rebuilt after the Earth quake and with more modern concrete buildings instead of wooden two-story shops and Subways instead of street cars.

Tokyo will be the first mega City to see end of growth and is clearly at or near on its peak population.
